Is HD-DVD Dead?: Script of my CBC Radio interviews

Preview this show

Last program description:

One of radio’s dirty little secrets is it’s not always as “live” as it may seem. You might hear me on your regional CBC Radio One morning show as the show’s own technology columnist. Truth is, I’m also the tech columnist for about 23 other regional shows.

Early every Wednesday morning, I sit in a small booth in the basement of CBC Vancouver, doing one show after another in 15-minute intervals.

And even though it sounds like the host and I are just bantering, truth is the whole dialogue is scripted. I write the hosts’ questions and tell them what my answer will be. (Although truth be said, I love hosts like Terry MacLeod, Brent Bambury and Peter Brown who follow their own curiosity and don’t stick to the “q-line.”)

The art of this is in the performance of it — making it sound as if I’m hearing the question for the first time, even though I scripted it the day before and have answered it ten times in the last two hours. ;-)

Actually, it’s fun. We tape Wednesday mornings and most shows air it Thursday mornings.

This week’s draft script is after the jump. I’d love to know what you think about the topic.
